For some reason...underwear!

For some strange and unknown reason, Addelyn LOVES my underwear. Whenever a laundry basket with clean OR dirty laundry is out- she runs to it, digs through it, and finds my underwear. Depending on the day, she will either put them on her head, around her neck like a hip looking scarf, or will collect as many pairs as possible to stash somewhere in the house.
I'm waiting for the moment when we have friends over and they find some of my undies stashed in an odd place!

Time is flying by at fourteen months!

Fourteen months have passed and our little girl is growing up and changing before our eyes. The days fly by and I wonder where my little baby went?!
A new favorite....wearing Mommy's beads. All of the ugly necklaces I am glad I kept (some even from high school). To all of my friends who think I should have gotten rid of them years ago, I told you so. :) I knew I would get use out of them again someday!

Eating dinner. She loves food. Enough said. Oh wait, except for corn. And milk. Notice the corn and milk on the tray that aren't being touched!

Digging through the diaper bag with her friend Addison (Addison is three months older). We had the opportunity to hang out with our friends Bridget and Jon the other night. We don't get to do that enough! It will be fun as the girls grow up so close in age. Right now they are more interested in the snacks or wipes from the diaper bag than each other!

I love that smile.

She carries her books around the house with her all of the time. Right now, her new favorite, a Valentine's Day "Biscuit the Dog" book from Great-Grandma Kramer. The new thing with books- she often wants to look at them on her own. Sometimes Mom or Dad can read but lately we need to let HER read it and let HER hold it.

Hanging upside down with Daddy. Of course Mark is always throwing her and hanging her upside down and doing other daring activities. She LOVES it!
Other things happening at 14 months: saying "Mama, Dada, and Baby" about 5000 times a day. The other words are just her own little language for the most part at this point. Lots of running away- the "chasing" game where she runs from us to her little chair in the living room, always giggling while she runs. She carries things from room to room and stashes random items everywhere. She loves looking at our little picture book we made for her with pictures of the grandparents. She points to them and smiles. She whines every night for cottage cheese until we get it out. She understands A LOT...follows simple directions (or doesn't but knows what the direction was! :) I would say her favorite time of day is bathtime. Her least favorite time of day- 5-5:30 p.m. Wait or is that Mom's least favorite time of day?
Oh good times at 14 months. Now if we can just get through this sickness that is/has been hitting our household!

4 more & she is done

16. that is the number of teeth my little toddler has....she will be 14 months tomorrow.
I realized how many teeth she had the other day as I looked into her toothy grin. Wow. I had to look it up...how many teeth do little ones get? I didn't even know. My best guess- 24 or 26.

Here is the info I found on Babycenter, my favorite baby/toddler info website:

"By age 3, your child should have a full set of 20 baby teeth, which shouldn't fall out until his permanent teeth are ready to start coming in, around age 6."

She is 4 away from a full set! Only her four back molars are missing. Ahh the things I am learning these days!

a perry trip

Last weekend Addelyn and I spent time in Perry to put on a baby shower for Trae, Addelyn's new cousin. Mark was supposed to drive down after work but because of the nasty winter weather, didn't make it. Sorry Mark, we had fun without you! We got to see lots of the fam and friends.
We tried to get a picture of Great-Grandpa Quinlan & all of the great-grandkids. These were the BEST of the pics we took. :) It was one, two, three...throw them on the couch and quick try to get a picture! Pretty hilarious!

Addelyn finally met her buddy Carter (Nick & Jen's little guy). Mark & Nick have been friends since they were kids & were roommates in college. We definitely don't get to see their family enough. Carter is very sweet and cute. Can you believe we got a picture of them both looking at the camera? Two smiles was probably too much to ask though. We'll take what we can get!
Mark still hasn't met Carter. We're hoping this can happen before Carter turns one!

Grandpa Hoskinson changed his first dirty diaper this weekend. (Okay, first one of Addelyn's.....I am assuming he did a few back in the day....??? ha ha!)

13 months

Hopefully this gives you a glimpse at her personality!

Right now one of her favorite activities is to take all of her clothes out of the drawers. She throws them back over her shoulders. She also takes all of her books off the shelves too.

She loves this learning center that she got for her birthday. She dances ALL the time.

Throwing all of the clean, FOLDED clothes onto the floor. She threw them out, carried them around the house, and put some back into the basket. Who needs toys?

Another classic look...

Addelyn has taken off in the past few weeks. She is walking EVERYWHERE, quickly, often with things in her hands. Almost running! It is changing our life. She doesn't sit still, doesn't stay in one room for long, and moves from one activity to the next.
A few other things she is doing at 13 months:
*Carrying things from room to room and stashing them in various places (my brush in Mark's hat basket, magnets in the crib, tampons in her toybox, books from my bookshelf EVERYWHERE in the house, etc. etc.)
*Communicating!...she says Mama and Dada a lot. Other words she says...more, baby, bear, and then often tries to copy other words we say. She also communicates with signing - more, water, book, sleepy.
*She will walk to the highchair when she is hungry, to her room when she is tired.
*She can grab things off of the table and other "high" surfaces that we thought were safe. We found out the hard way the other night when Mark saw her walking around the house with a steak knife in her hand. I'm so sorry to say, I'm not joking. No worries, she didn't cut herself but it could have been BAD! We now have realized we need to "toddler-proof" our house. A whole new world again.
*She likes to take my brush and brush her hair.
*She loves throwing the pillows off of the couch and running around with them.
*She is starting to show some signs of toddler-ism. A bit of arching her back and crying when she doesn't get her way.
*She is done with the bottle during the day but still takes one at night right before bed.
She isn't too excited about the whole milk yet!
*She still loves to eat. Favorites right now are: crackers, peas, black olives, cottage cheese, shredded cheese, pretty much any veggies. And then it really depends on the day- one day she loves yogert, another she won't touch it!
*She spends a lot of time on her little pink chair she got for her birthday. She will go from her chair to the couch and back again. It is almost like a "home base" for her. She has also discovered that it is fun to stand and jump on the chair or sit on the side arm and bounce. All of these things make Mom NERVOUS.
*She likes to be chased. The "I'm gonna get you!" game.
*She points out her hair, eyes, nose, ears, & mouth when asked. She usually gets it right!
This is fun. Never knew I would enjoy this so much.
