I have great memories of garage sales from when I was a child. My Grandma Kramer would take me around to different garage sales and I would "shop" for bargains. I usually had a few dollars- mostly change. Or Grandma would buy! Most of the time, books were my best find. Of course there were other little trinkets that I spent my dimes and quarters on but I've always loved books. I also have memories of having garage sales at my Grandma Stewart's house. We'd get up early in the morning to set up, Jill and I would sell cookies and drinks, and I LOVED walking around and re-organizing and folding clothes after people looked at things. I also loved seeing people walk up to pay money for one of my items that was for sale.
I think it is the "garage sale rush" that happens...when you find a bargain or when you sell an item. That rush is what brings people back- either to buy or sell.
I will be honest, I'm not a garage sale junkie these days. My time doesn't allow for it. Also, lugging a toddler to a garage sale isn't my idea of a good time. I did make it to a few sales yesterday though but I cheated, they were "early" sales- friends of a friend. In this picture, you will see my bargains. I got some great toys and clothes for Addelyn- all for the total of $35.50! Two of my favorite buys- the kitchen for $3, the mower for $5, and the Columbia snowsuit for $8. Ahhh the garage sale rush! Gotta love it!
