9 month milestones

As Jace is almost ten months, I finally am getting around to writing the nine month post! This month had lots of milestones for this little buddy. He now has eight teeth! So he spent a lot of the month teething (meaning his fingers in his mouth, a snotty nose, and drooling.) He also started really crawling during this month. He went from pulling himself around the past few months to officially crawling REALLY fast, all over!

This boy has so many amazing faces! I love it.

He weighed 21 pounds at his appointment and I can't find his length. Whoops. I do remember percentiles. He was 93% for weight and 6% for height! Short and stout, ha ha!

This month also had other milestones. This boy does not want to get his diaper changed or get dressed. Laying down and sitting still is not a favorite anymore! We have to have good toys and distractions when he is getting changed.
The other bummer, this month Jacers got the flu. Ahh it is horrible watching a baby have the flu. Jace has such a sweet demeanor though, he would throw up and then grin at us. And then a few days later, I got the flu too. No fun.
Our nicknames for this boy- Jacers, Jay-bo, and Monster.
He fought against eating all month. Would give us the tight-lip and wouldn't eat much at all- purees and definitely no solid foods. Stinker! He is still nursing and that is going really well- except that he can't sit still so basically does somersaults while he nurses!
Oh another thing, how could I even forget!!? He slept through the night for the first time EVER! This momma is finally starting to feel like a normal person again (I think!) And he really has been doing pretty well ever since. He goes down around 7:30 pm and sleeps til around anytime between 5-7 am, where he wakes up starving! If he gets up earlier than six, he'll usually go back to sleep. Finally buddy. Finally!
Jacers, you are such a joy! We love you little boy!

CSA

I'm thinking about signing up for a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) this summer. Any thoughts or experiences you could share?

inappropriate!

Jace is into everything! He is crawling everywhere and today we found he can even crawl up stairs!
He was in Addelyn's closet (which is also her toy space) today and I was getting ready in the bathroom. I heard her getting frustrated with him, as he was messing with her stuff.

"JACE! JACE!" she yelled. "That is INAPPROPRIATE!"

wal-mart, my wallet, and smurf chapstick

A few things. I am not a fan of shopping at Wal-Mart. Okay, pretty much I don't love to shop anywhere, especially with a baby and a kid who has started to notice displays and ask for things. Or who opens a $2.87 nasty Smurf chapstick and smears it all over her lips in front of the cashier in the checkout line while I'm paying (and not looking). Wal-Mart is one of my least favorite places. I can't even put my finger on the reason I dislike it so much. But I do.

Today I decided to buck up and get a few things I needed. It started raining as soon as we loaded up (of course). I got the kids inside the door of Wal-Mart, pulled out my list, and then went to look for my wallet. Hmm. I wondered outloud, "Where is my wallet?" as I dug in the diaper bag.

A little four year old peeped up, "Oh Mommy, I hid it in the living room before we left."

Yep, another reason I dislike Wal-Mart. Add it to the list.

(I must say my husband redeemed this Wal-Mart trip. It was his lunch hour so he picked up my wallet and met us. We even made a date of it and got Subway sandwiches together. So at the risk of this post seeming extremely negative, our Wal-Mart trip ended extremely well overall. Addelyn is very lucky, haha!)

Trouble with the dog

Poor Jacers is used to being dragged around by his sister. She loves babies and what is better than a real one? Tonight before bed began new troubles for the poor boy. I walked out of the bathroom to see Addelyn dragging Jace by the foot of his pjs and saying,"I am the vet and I am sure having troubles with this dog!"

I won't worry about it.....

Oh dear. Mark and I looked at each other tonight and shook our heads. What do we have coming?

The neighbor boy, Alec, is a few years older than Addelyn but loves to play with her . He was outside our house running around and yelling her name tonight while we were eating dinner. She finally ran to the window to tell him she'd come out after dinner. He wanted her to come and see the fish he had caught this afternoon. Their conversation went a little something like this....

Alec: "Addelyn, can you come over to my backyard when you get done eating?"
Addelyn: "Yeah, but will you put Sam away so he won't jump on me? (that is their big dog)
Alec: "Just yell when you get outside and I'll put him away before you come into our yard."
Addelyn: "No, why don't you put him away now and then I just won't worry about it."

She told that older boy what to do so matter of factly. Maybe it is a good thing? Oh our girl.....

It means sudden great disaster

Today Addelyn and I baked muffins. I let her do all of the "dumping" and mixing. When I measured the baking powder, she tried to grab it from my hands too quickly and it went everywhere. "Catastrophe!"she yelled.

sorry buddy

Jacers, you spend most of your time like this these days- just getting dragged around.
Sorry bud.

your mother

Addelyn has been nosy lately about our phone calls. As soon as we hang up the phone, she'll ask who we talked to and what did they say. Mark was on the phone the other night with his mom. When he got off, Addelyn said, "So what did your mother have to say?" in the most matter of fact little voice. Oh our nosy little girl!

baby wearing

She is still loving her babies, now she even wears one around in a sling. Such a little mommy!

my kind of crafts

Being at home part-time, I'm trying to do crafts and learning activities with Addelyn. I'm finding myself at times having no clue what to do- shouldn't I have gotten training on this type of stuff? Who would have known? So here is one example of "my kind of crafts." Hey, at least we're doing something right?!
